COVID-19 LTC Office Hours: COVID-19 Fatigue Got You Down?
Thursday, November 19 at 2:00pm CT

We are all tired of COVID, but the hits just keep on coming, and are disproportionately affecting the long-term care space. As we prepare for the challenges of fall and winter, please join us for this interactive Office Hours session that will feature special guest speaker Dr. Lea Watson.

Dr. Watson will discuss the importance of recognizing COVID “fatigue” and how to manage the chronic stress it has caused. It is easy to become desensitized to the magnitude of loss, which is dangerous and unhealthy. The antidote is mindful awareness, resilience training and gratitude for the good that is always present. She will also highlight the importance of meeting this moment as one of opportunity to advocate for reform in our industry. In doing so, we can find purpose in a time of chaos and uncertainty. Like no other time, we are all in this together. Dr. Christine LaRocca, Telligen Medical Director, will join the conversation.

Objectives:

  • Describe three examples of why nursing homes have disproportionate stress during COVID
  • Discern the difference between acute and chronic stress
  • List three traits of resilience that can be practiced and cultivated

Telligen is also offering these webinars:

Root Cause Analysis Training
RCA Training is offered on Tuesdays at 10:30am CT

Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is a skill every person working in a nursing home is expected to possess.

Per GUIDANCE §483.75(a)(2)-(3), and (h)-(i) the QAPI plan must describe the process for identifying and correcting quality deficiencies. QAPI suggests systematic analysis and systematic action is taken to analyze underlying causes of systemic quality deficiencies, along with studying the issue to determine underlying causes and contributing factors.

RCA is the first step in understanding the reasons for a problem, near miss or repeating incident before you build a plan to fix the problem. Telligen can help nursing homes with this RCA training. If you have been directed by the state survey agency or feel you can use a boost in team skills, register a team to attend one of our weekly 30-minute RCA Training webinar. Attendees will gain knowledge and resources that will help mobilize a team into action and start mitigating challenges with lasting success using RCA.

Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) Training
PDSA Training is offered on every other Wednesday at 11:00am CT

Please join us to learn the principles of the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle! The PDSA cycle is an action-oriented learning process. It is designed to be a quick-test of a new or different practice in the real work environment and is structured to help you make an informed decision!

This 45-minute learning event will orient you on the PDSA four-step process (Planning, Trying, Observing, and Acting) and identify methods for implementing PDSA cycles into your organizational practices.
