Achieving accuracy in documentation can be challenging because caregivers’ schedules often don’t permit timely charting at the

point-of-care. Care information critical to the accuracy of the MDS is

often recorded after the fact based on recollections of the day, copycat charting, or abbreviated notes. This can lead to inadequate care plans and reimbursement errors. ADLMANAGER solves this problem directly, using point-of-care touchscreens that allow MDS related charting to occur easily, quickly, and accurately.

The basis of good reporting begins with the accurate collection of care information. ADLMANAGER is designed to simplify the documentation and reporting of care information at the point-of-care, to improve the accuracy of the MDS, and to simplify the MDS process. This powerful application allows caregivers to easily document relevant care activities and observations at the point-of-care. ADLMANAGER also provides MDS nurses, coordinators, and others who supervise care with powerful management tools that help them monitor documentation compliance, avoid missed assessments, identify possible regulatory issues, and improve MDS reporting.

ADLMANAGER has two easy-to-use interfaces, a highly intuitive touchscreen application for
collecting care information at the point-of-care,and a browser-based interface used by administrative staff for reporting, scheduling care tasks, and resident and user profile maintenance. The ADLMANAGER touchscreen application allows caregivers to quickly enter care information regardless of clinical or computer skill level. Touchscreen charting at the point-of-care.

The touchscreen monitors are typically wall mounted in hallways and conveniently located near resident rooms. To begin using the application, the caregiver touches the screen to select her name, and presses her thumb to the fingerprint reader or enters a four digit PIN. The caregiver’s identity is verified and a list of residents is displayed.

After the resident is selected, the care category screen is displayed. Care categories include MDS assessment items such as ADL, mood and behavior, continence, skin condition, therapy, time awake, weight change, vitals, and others. Care categories are represented by graphic symbols or icons that make their selection intuitive. When a category is selected, a question is displayed, usually with several answers to choose from. The caregiver submits the answer to complete the entry.
